In recognition of shared values and a similar mission, AFLBS has established a cooperative agreement with Village Schools of the Bible (VSB), a non-denominational discipleship ministry serving local churches in Minnesota and around the world. The VSB program and curriculum helps believers gain a comprehensive understanding of God’s Word through Bible survey classes in which students get an overview of Scripture from cover to cover.

Village Schools of the Bible holds classes in local congregations, most of which are in the Twin Cities Metro and outlying areas. The classes consist of nine months of study, split into two semesters – 16 weeks of New Testament and 16 weeks of Old Testament.

The purpose of the cooperative agreement is to expedite the transfer of credits completed at VSB into the AFLBS program. The agreement states that AFLBS will accept undergraduate-level credits in Old and New Testament Survey as well as two additional courses, “Everyday Faith” and “Biblical Leadership.”

Many students who complete VSB classes have a desire to continue formal Bible education at other institutions. AFLBS aims to make VSB students aware of further Biblical and theological education opportunities and hopes to see many students enroll in the AFLBS program in the years to come.

In addition to over a dozen class locations, VSB offers online classes. AFLBS encourages lay people, college students, and even high school students considering AFLBS to benefit from VSB classes for personal growth and understanding of God’s Word or as preparation for future studies at AFLBS.

VSB also holds cooperative agreements with the University of Northwestern – St. Paul and Crown College.

Founded in 1964 by the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (www.aflc.org), the Free Lutheran Schools include a two year post-secondary program (Association Free Lutheran Bible School- www.aflbs.org) and a four year pastoral training program at the Masters of Divinity Level (Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary- www.aflts.org).
