Children's Ministry Director

MISSION STATEMENT: Equipping children to know and grow deep in their relationship with
Christ and lead their generation to Jesus.

o Must see young people as the mission field
o Must help young people attain a firm spiritual foundation
o Must truly believe that young people can have a saving faith in Jesus

o Character: A stable, maturing believer in Jesus Christ, whose life has evidenced
Christian character, and devotion to the Lord. Responsible, dependable and able to
keep confidences.
o Management: Organized, able to initiate and implement administrative procedures,
energetic, and self-discipline to work independently on agreed upon goals.
o Passion: A heartfelt passion for evangelism and discipleship training of children, sense
the calling of God to shepherd children.
o Leadership: A visionary person, compassionate, prayerful, and teachable, who is able
to recruit, manage, and motivate others. This person should be able to effectively apply
biblical and theological truth in ministry.
o Team Player: Demonstrate ability to function as part of a team.
o Interpersonal skills: Able to interact with children and parents, good verbal and written
communication skills, well prepared for presentations/teaching and publications.
o Committed: A commitment to strengthen families by integrating young people into the
overall ministry of Emmaus. Comply with the convictions of the Association of Free
Lutheran Congregations (AFLC), subscribe to the Constitution and Bylaws of Emmaus,
become a member of Emmaus, and have a high commitment to the vision and values of
o Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

o Work alongside the pastoral staff and ministry volunteers to evaluate and implement
curriculum for preschool through 6th grade Sunday school classes and King's Kids
o Lead and coordinate King's Kids, Sunday School, and Nursery Care Ministries
o Coordinate and lead special events such as VBS, and summer activities. Keira Wenisch
o Assist families (churched and unchurched) in
establishing an environment of faith in their homes.
o Lead, counsel and disciple children in their personal and spiritual development through
personal contact, Sunday School, King's Kids, and Special Events.
o Recruit and encourage parents, teachers and counselors to become part of the
children's ministry and ministry leadership teams. Assist the Associate Pastor in
providing an ongoing program of training and equipping for parents, teachers and child
o In partnership with Pastors and ministry leadership teams, continue developing a vision
for children's ministry.
o Provide opportunities to young people for meaningful ministry to others through
witnessing, service projects, mission trips, etc.
o Prepare and manage plans and budgets of the ministry in coordination with Emmaus
o Intentionally develop and build relationships within the community to foster gospel
sharing opportunities.
o Make it a personal goal to be involved in the lives of the children outside the specific
ministry responsibilities.
o Embrace the vision of helping individuals smoothly transition from childhood through
student life into adulthood in the life of the church.

o 30-40 hours a week including Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings
o Own transportation
