Opportunity Description

Primary Purpose of Position: Offer and provide for the emotional, spiritual, physical and social needs of young children ages 0-3 during their time in the church nursery. Oversee, create an environment that fosters a sense of safety, well-being, hygiene for our children and their families. Masks/face coverings may be required while in the nursery depending on current local health conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Welcome all children and their families to the nursery.
2. Interact with children and encourage their involvement in activities.
3. Prepare and maintain an environment within the nursery that is appealing, sanitary, and orderly.
4. Maintain good communication with families about care and ministry to their children.
5. Be on site in the nursery for the entire scheduled time both before and after worship services.
6. Coordinate with Emmaus volunteers in providing care for children. Utilize phone/text or email to schedule and/or remind volunteers of scheduled time to serve in the nursery.
7. Arrange for a substitute in the event of absence from scheduled time. Notify Supervisor at least five days prior to scheduled absence.

Working Conditions: (Paid hourly for onsite hours and volunteer coordination)
Typical Hours: Sundays: 8:00am-1:00pm; Wednesdays (during school year): 5:30-8:15pm

- Experience in child care or early childhood development
- Must be a nurturing, caring and patient caregiver who enjoys working with young children
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skill, especially dealing with parents and children in a professional manner
- Outgoing personality and organizational skills (helpful)
- CPR and First Aid certification required
- Dependable and willing to serve on a regular basis
- Pass a criminal background check
- Physically able to lift children and play with children
- Must be 17 years of age or older

Employees will be required to follow any other job related instructions and to perform other job-related duties requested by their supervisor.
