Opportunity Description

Qualifications:
Must work under the supervision of a teacher, must be at least 18, and meet one of the nine possible combined credential, education and experience requirements, such as a high school diploma with 2,080 hours experience as an aide or intern and 12 quarter credits. (State Definition)
A Teacher’s Assistant must be at least 18 years old, in the process of becoming a teacher of young children, and must meet the requirements of licensing. She must be able to work well with children and be willing to fulfill the responsibilities in accordance with the Center’s Mission.

Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the Teacher.
Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy. Promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of the children.
Supervise the classroom when the Teacher is out of the room.
Maintain daily and open communication with parents.
Provide input for the semi-annual assessment of children’s development. At the request of the Teacher, attend the parent meetings.
Treat all children with dignity and respect. Help them establish good habits of personal hygiene and social interaction
Keep accident reports.
Maintain confidentiality.
Report any suspect abuse or any other problem relating to the children to the Teacher.
Maintain a safe and healthy environment. Help to maintain a neat and organized classroom.
Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials.
Attend staff meetings and recommended training programs.
Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the Center at all times.
Meet all applicable licensing regulations.
