Emily Goff Testimony

Class of 2000

I’m Emily Goff, the newest member of the Alumni Committee. AFLBS has a very special place in my heart. The years I spent on the bible school campus were some of the most valuable years of my life. Not only did I grow in my relationship with the Lord but I made lifelong friends.

My first year of bible school I struggled to find a job that paid enough to cover my bills and pay for tuition. I ended the first year with a significant balance due and also had to come up with the funds for the down payment for my second year. I worked two full time jobs that summer, a day job, 10 am to 6:30 pm, and an overnight job, 10 pm to 6 am, napping between shifts.

I ended the summer a few hundred dollars short of what I needed to come back. I called the bible school and told them how hard I had worked all summer but that I was still coming up short. They told me that I had received a gift for the exact amount I was short and that it had already been applied to my account! God is so good. I was overcome with gratitude, relief, and praise.

Money should not be the reason students don’t attend our bible school. Being a recipient of someone’s generosity, I know how important having a solid scholarship fund is. That is why I am willing and happy to serve as your new Alumni Committee Treasurer.
