Free Lutheran Bible College and Seminary Adopts Strategic Plan

Press Release
Free Lutheran Bible College and Seminary Adopts Strategic Plan
Plymouth, MN
For release noon CDT, Thursday, March 16

The Board of Trustees of the Free Lutheran Bible College and Seminary has adopted a strategic plan that seeks to further the mission of establishing students in the eternal and inerrant Word of God for a life of faith in Jesus Christ and faithful service in His kingdom.

Renewing the strategic plan was a key takeaway from board governance training during the past year. This strategic plan is a three-year rolling plan that will be updated every year, ensuring continued commitment to its mission. The plan outlines key promises to current and prospective students, then outlines five key strategic initiatives that will lead FLBCS toward greater fulfillment of its mission, training students for the benefit of families, congregations, and communities

The centerpiece of the strategic plan is development of an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree in Bible and Ministry. This program will extend the existing Bible and Ministry curriculum, including congregational emphases in worship/music ministry, pre-seminary studies, crosscultural ministry, church planting (with AFLC Home Missions), and youth/family ministry (with AFLC Youth Ministries). The first cohort of students will start in the fall of 2024, pending program development and accreditation.

President Wade Mobley noted, “Students currently receive a collection of credits without a specified degree, making transfer and degree completion difficult. A portion of the student body finishes degrees in Bible and Ministry elsewhere, using our coursework as upper division classes. We still want students to start here, go anywhere, grounded in God’s Word, but for students pursuing a degree in the one area that we teach, we want them to be able to finish on our campus and in an AFLC-led environment. We believe that these offerings will provide better value for our students and long term benefit for congregations and the AFLC.”
