Intercessor Team Update – December 2025

Dear Praying Friends of Free Lutheran Bible College and Seminary:

And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
– Isaiah 9:6 (ESV)

This passage has been on my mind the past couple of days, as many of us enjoyed the annual Christmas concerts in the chapel this past weekend. Over the course of three days about 1000 people delighted in the program of word and song. We also heard a truly exceptional message from Dr. Brent Olson: https://vimeo.com/1144214454?fl=pl&fe=sh

We are thankful to the living God for very much, including:

  • Ms. Cindy Beck for directing our music ministry this fall in the sabbatical absence of Mr. Andrew Hanson. She did a great job, along with recent graduate Esther Rabenberg.
  • Mr. Andrew Hanson, who will return next month after a sabbatical (17 years of service!)
  • A great semester of spiritual growth and discipleship. You can see testimonies from a recent student assembly here: https://flbc.edu/fall-2025-testimonies/
  • Pastoral training for 23 men, many of whom will be pastors in the AFLC.
  • A great start to our second Annual Fund, as we are 77% of the way to our $1.5M goal (fiscal year lasts through July 2026).
  • Pastor Adam Osier’s 6 ½ years of service at FLBCS. He will be missed (see more below).

We ask the Living God to remember us:

  • A strong start to the winter/spring 2026 semester (we have three new students joining us!)
  • Good recruiting efforts for next fall (students make a lot of decisions over Christmas break).
  • Endurance and spiritual nurture in Christ for staff who steward the mission God has given FLBCS.
  • Healthy local congregations and families, as students return home.
  • Wisdom for graduates seeking “what is next?”
  • Provision for congregations without pastors, and for lay leadership in the interim.
  • God’s continued provision through completion of our Annual Fund ($1.5M beyond tuition, room, board, and fees makes all of this possible).

I mentioned Pastor Osier, above. We are thankful for Pastor Osier and his family for the time they have invested on our campus and in our students. Pastor Osier resigned last month, effective at the end of this semester. We have plans in place for this spring and do not plan an immediate replacement. An excerpt of his letter to students and fellow staff stated: This school holds a truly unique and foundational place in my heart… This decision comes from a shared discernment, with my trusted colleagues and fellow servants in Christ that the mission of FLBC is best served through this path. I have sense for some time God’s leading me to a new season of service to him, and I am excited to follow his leading in this. He has given me his gospel to proclaim, and I am humbled to do so. I look forward to sharing more about that in due time. My time serving in this role has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I want to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity I have had to serve the Lord here, alongside you.

We love and trust our good and sufficient God as He guides and provides, establishing students in the Word of God for life in Jesus Christ.

In Christ’s Love,

Dr. Wade Mobley
President, Free Lutheran Bible College and Seminary
