Dear Praying Friends of Free Lutheran Bible College and Seminary:
Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds
the one who trusts in the Lord.
Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy,
all you upright in heart!
—Psalm 32:10-11 (ESV)
Hello from the beautiful campus of the Free Lutheran Bible College and Seminary, where a February thaw has hit! This has been a good year, and I thank you for praying.
Big picture, I see over 110 undergraduate and 23 seminary students thriving. The growth in these concentrated environments is easy to see. Our mission is focused— Establishing students in the eternal and inerrant Word of God for a life of faith in Christ and faithful service in His kingdom. Such a mission is difficult to quantify in real time, so we measure the outputs that we think are likely to yield such a result.
Recently, someone asked me to put into words what we want to see long term through the ministry of FLBCS. I asked for help from a diverse group of about a dozen employees and friends of FLBCS, did some paragraph analysis, and came up with the following. It’s not official yet, but I thought you’d like to see what I see:
Through steadfast, Christ-centered ministry of the Word, in the years ahead we will see:
- Thriving AFLC congregations led by servant-hearted pastors and lay leaders shaped at FLBCS.
- Christ-honoring marriages and homes where children and grandchildren rise up and call Jesus Lord because their parents were transformed here.
- Communities marked by compassion, integrity, and hope because our graduates live with Scripture as their compass.
- Generation after generation returning to this campus, hungry for the same life-giving truth.
- And everywhere we look—God’s Word, sent out from this place, still accomplishing what He desires, never returning empty.
That’s a beautiful picture, and something to strive for. Thank you for praying!
Praise God for:
- A great school year
- Strong giving (85% fiscal year to date for our $1.5M annual campaign)
- A couple of great new employees
- Strong training opportunities for our administration and staff
- Congregations receiving a pastor from our recent seminary class
- The support of the AFLC
Please pray for:
- Seminarians as they await and consider calls
- Congregations needing a shepherd
- Next year’s incoming FLBC class
- Men considering a call to seminary
- A strong feasibility study as we consider a capital campaign
- A couple of key hires in the area of alumni, recruiting, admissions, and marketing
- Strong relationships with places likely to send students to FLBC
- Favor with government entities where that is necessary or helpful
In Christ,
Dr. Wade Mobley
