Resting in His Steady Presence – Maddi Trussoni

Maddi Trussoni [FLBC junior] is from La Crosse, Wis.

Recently, I was given the heartbreaking news that summer teams for 2020 had been canceled due to COVID-19. Why God? Why is this happening? Why is my first year of Bible college ending up the way it is? All of these questions filled and floated around in my head. I had the best team, I had the money situation all set in stone for the summer, and I was ready to teach His Word to little children all summer long. But God had different plans.

Instead, He has taught me patience, and He has most definitely revealed big idols in my life. One of the biggest idols in my life was my friends. Consistently, I found myself finding comfort in the presence of my friends instead of in the presence of God through my devotions and prayer life. He is the one who provides true comfort.

There is not a time where God is not aware of our needs. Psalm 139:7 says, “I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!” How amazing and comforting is that promise? There is not a time where God will not show up for us because He loves us so much.
