What would you say if someone owned six ukuleles? We say, “Show me what you can do, Katy Meester!” The junior from Valley City, N.D., started her collection a few years ago when her interest was piqued by the four-stringed instrument. She loved the sound and the ease of use. When her parents bought her a second uke, an acoustic upgrade, and a friend lavished her with a rainbow-striped uke, her collection officially took off.
“I guess people got the hint that I like ukuleles,” says Meester.
Her next acquisition was a banjo uke (see below), then a baritone uke, and finally, an electric purple number gifted for her graduation. We’re glad she brought four of them to campus with her and predict fun times at the beach—er, campfire.
