The Lord is the Sustainer of My Soul – Ethan Hickle

By Ethan Hickle, FLBC junior, Elk River, Minn.

This spring semester I struggled to get back into the swing of work and school. I was frustrated through this whole process, especially because in this time of transition I wasn’t going to God’s powerful sustaining Word. Youth group responsibilities rolled around as school started, and I was not as excited about it. I knew I needed God, and it was going to be very difficult for me to help these great kids if I was struggling in my relationship with Him.

But God knew exactly what I needed to get through this time. He gave me a challenge: there were five students in my youth group who were bursting with questions I was able to answer. I jumped into the Bible with these kids and started finding answers to as many questions as I could. This experience refreshed my soul through reading God’s Word. Acknowledging God’s love and truth was just what I needed. God’s sustaining power works through His Word.
