In high school I was a quiet guy. I wouldn’t say much to people or go to any events. I wasn’t close friends with many people. I went to a small school, so we all knew each other, but I wouldn’t consider most people there good friends of mine. I thought a lot about what people thought of me, and I struggled a lot with anxiety. During my senior year, I grew a lot and found out that people weren’t so bad. Then I didn’t care as much about what people thought of me.
At Bible college, I found a great group of friends and people I love to be around. I look forward to seeing them every day and hanging out. It is great to be me, and I have fun being myself. I do things that I would have never done before and have fun with it instead of thinking about what other people think of me.
Exodus 33:14 says, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” This is an important verse because it reminds us that God is always with us and we have nothing to fear. One way that this verse has helped me here at FLBC is when I did summer teams. Meeting new people every week and teaching kids and youth was stressful at first, but by day two I was comfortable and happy that I was doing summer teams.
No matter what your situation is, God is with you wherever you go and will give you rest as you look to him.
