POSITION: Youth Ministry Pastor
REPORTS TO: Children, Youth and Family Director
POSITION PURPOSE: Effectively lead a ministry designed to mature youth in grades 6-12 in
faith and encourage Christian fellowship amongst the youth.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
● A college degree in Youth Ministry or a related field
● A firm grasp and commitment to the Vision Culture: Beliefs, Mission, Purpose,
Values, and Strategy of Resurrection
● Demonstrates spiritual maturity and character consistent with Church Leadership
Covenant
● Exhibits a strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ evidenced in personal
relationships, commitment to the church, personal work ethic, compassion, and a
heart for people far from God
● Passion for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through engaging Youth Ministry
● Organized, creative thinker, and highly productive while working in a fast-paced
environment
● Excellent written and oral communication skills including large group presentations
● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, etc.)
● Committed to improvement, seeks constructive criticism, and understands
strengths and weaknesses
● Basic understanding of Lutheran Theology
● Action-oriented and displays focus, passion, and initiative
● Exercises good judgment
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
● Areas of primary responsibility and leadership encompass the Youth Ministry for
youth in grades 6-12, and their families. The full spectrum includes:
o Weekly youth programming including Middle School (6-8 grades), High
School (9-12 grades), and Student Leadership
o Summer ministries including weekly gatherings and mission/high adventure
faith trips
o Oversee the Summer Ministries Gala/fundraising planning and team
organization
o Other classes, events, and workshops
● Continually nurture your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the spiritual
development of partners serving in the Youth Ministry
● Actively support, both publicly and privately, the Strategic Ministry plan of
Resurrection and aid the development of that plan
● Provide leadership in the visioning, planning, and budgeting process for the Youth
Ministry
● Create, grow, and administer a healthy ministry culture by attracting, building,
connecting, developing, and evaluating partners according to their gifts to execute
the identified goals of the ministry
● Working knowledge of or willingness to learn technology around audio/visual for
youth worship or presentations
● Provide opportunities for youth to worship Jesus and know His Word in a fun,
friendly, and nurturing environment (UP)
● Provide opportunities for youth to connect and build relationships with others at
Resurrection in a fun, friendly, and nurturing environment (IN)
● Provide opportunities for youth to serve and live out the Great Commission and
Great Commandment in a fun, friendly, and nurturing environment (OUT)
● Help youth grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord and to apply what they
learn into their daily lives
● Participate in ministry activities and events scheduled in areas of assigned
responsibility and in the broader ministry of Resurrection
● Ensure programs offered comply with Resurrection’s “Child Safety Training
Program” policies and procedures
● Work with the Communications Director to provide information for Resurrection
publications such as Sunday announcements, ministry brochures, social media,
website, and event registrations
● Prepare for and attend Council meetings as requested by the Lead Pastor
● Consult with the Children, Youth and Family Director before assuming leadership or
responsibilities beyond the local congregation
● Other duties as assigned

grades 6-12
● Provide a safe and secure environment for youth in grades 6-12
● Consistently strive to grow Resurrection and spread the Good News in alignment
with the Strategic Ministry Plan for Resurrection

HOURS AND BENEFITS
This is a full-time, salaried position. (Sunday-Thursday, including nights and weekends.
Additional time may be required for special events such as retreats, lock-ins, staff
workshops, meetings, etc.)
