Intercessor Team Update – June 8

“In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; in the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.” Psalm 5:3 (NASB95)

This text resonates deeply with my own heart, and is the verse upon which my prayer journal begins. With cup of coffee in hand, and Bible at my side, the day starts with seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Let us be encouraged today in the same confidence as that of the Psalmist, a confidence that God will hear his supplications and intercessions. That as he speaks, his words do not go unattended nor unnoticed, but rather, our LORD is near, listening to and hearing the intercessions and praises of His children. This is the God we eagerly look to!

In your own time of intercession in the next weeks, please lift these concerns in prayer:

Pray on behalf of the many folks making final preparations to host Annual Conference this year on our campus in Plymouth, MN. The theme is “Here I Stand”, based upon Romans 1:16-17, and we look forward to this opportunity June 13-16 to come together as a community of faith, seeking God’s will and leading, giving thanks for His gracious provision, and acknowledging His powerful work in and amongst our Association and its congregations. We look forward to your attendance, and for your consideration in inviting someone new to accompany you. What a great way to spread information about the AFLC and bring to our people an enhanced connectedness with our Association.

Pray on behalf of our AFLC leadership, including staff, faculty, corporations and boards. We seek prayer especially for our Building Committee that is working on our plan for campus expansion and development. There is a continual need for wisdom and discernment at every level of leadership, and we seek that wisdom and discernment from the LORD. May He guide our every decision, and may the Holy Spirit especially be at work in our hearts as we meet for Conference.

Pray on behalf of the AFLBS Alumni Association as they labor in support of our students, encourage alumni, raise financial and prayer support, and expand the ministry of our Bible School. We seek also God’s blessing upon the upcoming “Alumni and Friends Day” taking place July 28-29.

Pray for pastors–“PFP!!” We are facing an urgent need for men to answer the call to parish ministry, and are boldly imploring our LORD to raise up 40 men for AFLTS as well as 40 laymen to assist in local congregations. And we praise God for answered prayer as several men have been moved of God to enroll in Seminary classes.

Pray for our pastoral interns who are transitioning to the local congregation in which they have been placed to serve. May they grow in their dependence upon God, and may our host congregations receive them with love and care, and may this year provide valuable training and equipping for the pastoral ministry.

Pray for all of our various Summer Teams as they travel thousands of miles this summer to encourage our congregations, proclaim the message of the Gospel, and glorify the name of God. May both teams and congregations be blessed and refreshed by this ministry, and may all our teams experience safety in their travels.

On behalf of the Intercessor Team,
Pastor Kirk Flaa
Sioux Falls, SD
