Gospel Equipped -Nate Crellin

One of the many blessings that I have been given at AFLBS is solid Christian fellowship. I get asked fairly often, “Why do you stay on campus if you only live less than 15 minutes away?” My answer to that question typically is, “Well it would be kinda weird if I didn’t.” It is so much more than that, though, because God places great friends and relationships in our lives for specific reasons and at specific times. Sometimes it is hard living in close community here, but I am so thankful for having time in the Word with one another at Bible studies and deep talks in the men’s dorm past our suggested bed times.

Mark 8:34-35 Jesus says, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.” God seems to be working in my heart right now as I have had many opportunities to share about Him with a coworker. I work in the shipping department at a home improvement store nearby, and I definitely feel called to share about God with a man I work with named Pat. This verse shows me how I need to “lose my life” in the sense of losing my selfish, nervous life for the sake of Christ.
